Top Things To Do When Visiting Penang, Malaysia

When visiting Malaysia,  it is a no brainer to explore Kuala Lumpur which is the country’s capital. But Malaysia is more that just KL. There are several amazing side trips that you can do when you are already in KL.

One of the famous destinations that you can easily reach by bus, car or even a plane ride is Penang!

We are so lucky that this trip was included during my last visit in Malaysia. This is my second time to be in Penang Island, and I am not complaining.

If you love Malaysian food, then Penang is a must visit. It isn’t called as The Food Capital of Malaysia for nothing. Just the idea of indulging amazing and flavorful local Malaysian dishes is worth the visit.

Top Places To Visit When In Kuala Lumpur

If there is another city in Southeast Asia that I consider as my second home, I can say that I will probably go to Kuala Lumpur.

Writing this blog, I must say that I can be very biased because of my love for this city. I love "almost" everything about it. I say almost, because at times I can't really stand the heat..but there's always air conditioning (I lived in Dubai for 10 years, so Malaysian heat is nothing).

I have been to Kuala Lumpur numerous times. That before we all go restricted to travel (you know when the big C happened), I always find myself booking a weekend trip to KL and meet friends over kaya toasts and Kopi and at times go shopping. Glad that Philippine Airlines have a daily direct flight from Manila to KL.

In a way I can say that I am very much familiar with the capital of Malaysia.  I have been doing so many local stuff that I haven’t really explored KL as a tourist.

During my recent famtrip with Philippine Airlines, I got to explored Kuala Lumpur as a tourist and I was so happy to see KL in this light.

So if you are going on a trip to Malaysia and have a few days in KL, here are some of the things I recommend visiting:

3 Must Visit Destinations When Traveling To Malaysia For The First Time

I have been to Malaysia numerous times that I actually lost count. Whenever someone ask me how many times I've been there, I say..hmmmm well, around 10 times! Haha. But kidding aside, ever since I moved in this part of the world, Malaysia became my 2nd Home.

I first visited Malaysia in 2016 and met so many amazing people. Basically this is one of the reasons why I always travel back to this country. Malaysia offers a diverse tapestry of experiences. From its bustling cities and mega towers, to its pristine beaches and rainforests.  It is somewhat similar to the Philippines where I live but different in so many ways.

Malaysia is also known for its rich cultural heritage with a population comprising of various ethnic groups such as Malays, Chinese and Indians. And with such cultural diversity, comes amazing FOOD.

Anyway, before I get carried away. I better get to the point of why I am writing this blog.

Recently on my 10th (or so) visit to Malaysia, I was part of the FAMtrip (Familiarization Trip) organized by Philippine Airlines in coordination with Tourism Malaysia. During this trip, I rediscovered Malaysia as if it is my first time to travel in this country.

So, I thought of writing a blog on where to go it you are visiting Malaysia for the first time.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO VISIT MALAYSIA FOR THE FIRST TIME, HERE ARE 3 OF MY RECOMMENDED DESTINATIONS:

Note: These recommendations are assuming that KL will be your kick off point.
